Hello, this is Luho Plastic Surgery.
During consultations for eyelid ptosis correction,
we often hear the following comments:
✔️ Even when I sleep well, my eyes still look sleepy.
✔️ My eyes look blurry in photos.
✔️ People often ask if I’m feeling unwell.
This is often because the shape of the eyes
and skin structure make the eyes appear sleepy.
If the size of the left and right eyes
appears different at first glance, ptosis may be involved,
so it is important to determine the exact cause.
Today, through actual patient cases, we will take a closer look at:
- how much the eyes changed before and after eyelid correction
- and how the procedure is performed.

"Why Do Eyes Look Sleepy?"
If people often say that your eyes look
tired just by looking at them,
there may be a specific reason behind it.
However, not all sleepy-looking eyes are caused by ptosis.
Let’s look at the possible factors.
1. Muscle Issue (Ptosis)
- Weak muscles that lift the eyelids make the eyes appear half-closed
- The upper part of the pupil is not fully visible when looking straight ahead
- Caused by congenital muscle weakness or loss of elasticity due to aging
2. Eyelid Skin & Structural Factors
- The muscles are normal, but the eye shape itself appears sleepy
- Thick eyelids or excessive upper eyelid fat create a heavy look
- Monolids or hidden double eyelids: less pupil exposure, making the eyes look smaller
- Epicanthal fold: the inner corner of the eye is covered, creating a dull appearance
Sleepy-looking eyes are often caused
by multiple factors rather than a single reason.
As you can see in the before photo above,
the natural eye shape gave a sleepy appearance,
which led the patient to visit our clinic.
To improve the sleepy-looking impression
and the asymmetry between the two eyes,
eyelid ptosis correction was performed.

"Luho Plastic Surgery
Eyelid Ptosis Correction Method"
At our clinic,
eyelid correction methods are divided into:
- Natural adhesion
- Partial incision
- Full incision
For this patient, the ptosis was not severe
and there was minimal skin sagging,
so the partial incision method was used.
"Do I Need Eyelid Ptosis Correction?"
You may consider eyelid correction
if you experience the following:
1. People often say you look sleepy or tired
2. Wrinkles appear on your forehead when you open your eyes
3. Your double eyelids are unclear
4. Your double eyelids appear loose or weakened
5. The upper eyelid covers more than one-third of the pupil
If you have concerns like these,
we recommend visiting our clinic for a consultation.
With the extensive experience
of our board-certified plastic surgeon,
we provide customized surgical plans
tailored to each individual’s eye shape.
"In Closing"
Eye asymmetry and sleepy-looking eyes
do more than cause aesthetic dissatisfaction—
they significantly affect your overall facial impression.
Even a 1 mm difference in the double eyelid
can greatly change how your face looks.
Therefore, eyelid correction should be performed by
a surgeon with extensive surgical experience
to achieve satisfactory results.
Rather than focusing only on external changes,
our clinic carefully designs the surgery by considering:
- overall facial harmony
- and the balance of facial features.
We invite you to experience the beginning
of your transformation at our clinic.
